This page honors those dogs with whom we shared our hearts and lives with but are no longer with us. Each of our dogs are members of our family and their absence is felt for a long time. They are missed.

I have no words. Mister was tired and done. My Mum’s birthday and she was sitting on my shoulder as I made the decision to call Shelley to come over and make the trip she and I have made too many times together now. Bless his heart. I loved him so. He pushed me to my limits. He was my first Tracking dog, my first Obedience dog, my first water dog, my Owner Handled Top20 dog, and I could go on and on. He raised puppies with me. He sat up with me with sick children. He lay by me after the deaths of two dogs and my brother, my sister and my mother. He introduced me to so many friends and took me to so many places. He talked to me every day. He was forgiving of my mistakes and took such joy in our accomplishments. And, oh, he taught me to laugh at myself! He was one of a kind. I will never know another dog like him. Thank you, Shelley, for entrusting this boy to me. I miss you, Mister….

Always my happy, bouncing girl, Bling was an apt name for her is that is how she moved. She “blinged”, all four feet off the ground coming down for square! I see that same energy in her get and grand-get.
Bling was not a competitive dog, her calling was as a therapy dog. She was my companion as we traveled to schools and libraries teaching dog safety. When her bandana came out, she knew she had a job to do and she did it perfectly. She taught hundreds of children the joy of safety meeting a dog and helped many overcome their fear of dogs. Bling was a wonderful ambassador for the breed. She is missed by all who knew her. She always made me smile.

It is with a heavy heart that we said goodbye to our Pirate. He was a dog very close to my heart and was happiest by my side. He would do anything I asked of him, provided he saw a reason to do it! He was a challenge to live with - able to let himself out of any crate, open the front door, including the deadbolt and all kitchen drawers were for his enjoyment. If he managed to get out of his kennel- butterfly latch with pin and bungee-he would select who else he would let out - usually Bling!
He was the best puppy raiser! Would sit outside the whelping room like an expectant father and thrilled when he had a chance to check over all the puppies ever so gently. He would let puppies do anything to him until they were about 5 weeks old and then he would teach them manners. If they understood who was boss and were polite, he would play with them.
What a gift Colville Jackson gave me when he had me breed my Tip to long gone Buccee. What an experience traveling from Wisconsin to Mississippi with eight week old puppies so I could have Colville confirm my pick of the litter! I will forever be grateful. Pirate will be missed, but we will see glimpses of him in his progeny. I will now go hug his daughter, granddaughters and great-granddaughter. Thank you Pirate for teaching me so much and sharing your life with us!

Afortunado Hot Tip, "Tip"

Goodbye my sweet Tip. Such a sweet girl and always happy. With a heavy heart we let Afortunado's Hot Tip go to "rainbow bridge" today May 26, 2011 . At 12 she had such a wonderfully happy spirit and even chased up a squirrel on our walk at the dog park last week. This morning things were not right - thank you Tip for making the decision for us. You will be missed by many. Thank you for the wonderful legacy you leave. Happy romping with your mother Toz.
Tip was from Toz and our very first litter. I knew the moment I caught her at birth, she was the one for me. Identified in the litter by fingernail polish on the tip of her tail, she forever became “Tip”. She was the first dog I trained and handled for conformation, but it was just not what she enjoyed doing. She tolerated conformation and agility, but she much preferred just being at home. Just shy of her last major and last NA leg an injury put an end to her show and performance career.
With Tip’s stoic, sweet, easy-going personality, our mentor, Colville Jackson suggested she be bred to the first PWDCA National Specialty SuperDog winner, HIT Ch Camerell’s Buccaneer Beaver UD TD CWD ROM AD. Tip proved to be a superb mother, both in the care of her puppies and their quality. Her wonderful attributes have been passed on to many, including her son Afortunado Buccaneer Legacy, “Pirate” and daughter Absolutely Afortunado Miss M “Emma”.
Tip’s happy song and tail would greet everyone whether it was walking into the house or to the bathroom in the middle of the night.
Tip is gone, but we see glimpses of her in her children and grandchildren and I am sure in future generations to come.

It was with a heavy heart that we said goodbye to Toz our first PWD. At 14 she still ruled with a velvet paw and was queen of her domain. On Friday, at our romp in the dog park, she ran after and kept in line 9 of her progeny (plus a Brittany) as was her custom. On Sunday she was not doing well.
Ch Brieahndriftwood’s XS, NA NAJ was a dog of “firsts”. Our first PWD, our first show dog, first show – 4 pt major, produced our first litter, ( including BIS Ch Afortunado Seasideloveaffair - #1PWD 2001 & 2002),our first agility dog and most definitely first in our hearts. She was a very dignified dog from the beginning – no paper eating for her, that and countersurfing were “beneath her”. She would tattle on anyone that did! She chose who and when she was petted and was truly a lady of grace. I know I will cry again when my “Courier” arrives as the cover picture is her son “Aiden” and he is so like his mother. I thank her for all the joy she has brought to our lives and I know that thought is echoed by the many people around the country who have a piece of her in her children, grandchildren, great -grandchildren and great- great-grandchildren. Never did we dream 14 years ago how such a little puppy could change our world. Thank you Toz.
