Congratulations to Absolutely Afortunado's Miss M on her Winners Bitch win at the Northstar Working Group Association dog show August 24, 2009! Emma earned a four point major under Judge Nancy Simmons and her Championship. What a pretty girl! Now she and Amy can concentrate on agility and a litter of puppies.
On August 14, 2009, at the Wisconsin Rapids Kennel Club show in Marshfield, WIsconsin, Mister won Best of Breed and a Group 4. Our Group judge was Mrs. Dorothy Welsh. After thanking her for the group placement, Mrs. Welsh commented about Mister, "I love this breed, but I rarely give any a Group Placement because they have to be correct. And this dog is just that." Thank you, Mrs. Welsh! The weekend of July 18 and 19, 2009, we were in Weston, Wisconsin for the Paper Cities Kennel Club show. Mister won Best of Breed both days. That makes seven Best of Breed wins for our young boy (but who's counting?).
On June 13, 2009, Mister went for his Therapy Dog International test at the Wisconsin Rapids Kennel Club. He is now a certified therapy dog and will be joining CH Afortunado Aidan Curren, "Aidan" and CH Abeja Manoel Pardal Rivero, "Bandit" (his two housemates) at the elementary school level to do the reading program with students starting in October.
Mister went to Jefferson, Wisconsin, for a three day dog show May 1 through 3, 2009. A huge congratulations to him on his Best of Breed wins all three days. What a great weekend for Team Mister!
The Afortunado dogs were in Fond du Lac for the weekend of April 18 and 19. On Saturday, Afortunado's Expect The Unexpected, "Mister" took Winners Dog and Best of Opposite Sex honors to complete his Championship under Judge Audrey Lycan. It is exciting to note that both of Mister's majors were garnered from Best of Breed wins from the classes over Specials. Hurray! Get ready for the Breed ring, Mister! Absolutely Afortunado's Miss M, "Emma", won Winners Bitch and Best of Winners. She is one major win shy of her championship and we can't wait to have yet another Afortunado Champion to brag about! Saturday was also the debut of Afortunado's Elijah The Gift, "Eli" with his new owner-handler, Troy. They made a striking pair in the ring and their future is very bright indeed. Troy and Eli have a wonderful bond that can only strengthen as they continue to work together. On Sunday, Troy and Eli proved my suspicions about the two of them correct when they earned a Reserve Winners Dog ribbon on their second time in the ring together. Way to go! Mister was moved up from the classes to show with the big dogs in the Best of Breed competition and left the ring with a Best of Opposite Sex ribbon. Well done, Mister.

On Saturday, Afortunado Expect The Unexpected, "Mister", took Winners Dog, Best of Winners and a Best of Breed ribbon over Specials to earn his second major win. Way to win, Mister! Afortunado's Elijah The Gift, Mister's brother Eli, received a well-deserved Reserve Winners Dog. He went on to win the Best Bred By ribbon. She looked fantastic in the ring! Emma and Amy continue to work their magic in the conformation ring. Eli once again took Reserve Winners Dog with Shelley handling him. Watch for Eli in the future as he competes in Conformation with his owner, Troy Wiezbiske. Welcome to the ranks of owner-handlers, Troy! You are in for a wonderful ride.
Amy and Emma took the trip to Chicago, Illinois for two out of the four days of shows held in February, 2009. What an exciting time for this pair! Friday, February 20, proved to be an exciting day for Absolutely Afortunado's Miss M, our "Emma". Emma took Best of Winners over twenty class bitches and nine class dogs for a very impressive 5-point major. On Saturday, Emma once again looked stunning in the ring and earned Reserve Winners Bitch. Way to go, Emma and Amy!
